Six heats of the $10,450 Publican’s Cup for 5th grade greyhounds headline the Thursday night program tonight at Albion Park.
The series brings together a mix of up and coming youngsters, feature race winners and seasoned campaigners in what are sure to be hotly contested events, with the six heat winners and the fastest two second placegetters progressing to next Thursday’s final.
The highlights of the heats include recent Albion Park novice winner Marluca for Selena Zammit in heat one, Simpatico for Glenn Smith, looking to make it 9 wins on end in heat two, 2015 Dave Brett Memorial Maiden winner Aeroplane Jack for Tony Brett in heat four and 2015 Vince Curry Maiden winner Heidi Benz for Geoff Uhrhane in heat three.
The 3rd and 4th grade, Race 8, looks to be one of the most competitive on the program, with the impressive Mincin’ Machine, for Pat Lavis taking on a field of gallopers in good form including Say Sayonara (Fiona Geary), Mpingo (Chris Riordon), Pacific Harbour (Brian Francis) and Kidatee Croc (Darren Russell).
The opening race, the novice, sees recent Ipswich winners Issy Cool for Tony Apap, a son of prolific Albion Park performer Isadel, and Gun Legacy for Elaine Williamson face off in what is likely to be an enthralling contest
Admission is free, so be sure to make your way down to the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club for a bumper ten event card, kicking off at 6:45pm.
