Queensland Derby third Thirty Talks for Tony Brett headlines a quality night of racing at Albion Park on Thursday night. The brindle son of Where’s Pedro and Unfinished added a Group 2 placing to his already imposing CV last week when a fast finishing third behind the Robert Cooke-trained France Soir in the Glen Gallon @ Stud Queensland Derby.
He will be making start number ten of his career in the sixth event on the program and looks well placed to record win number seven for his master trainer despite the box five draw.
His main adversary will be Group 2 Ipswich Auction winner Magical Yessam for Don Massey, who was a gallant fourth in last week’s Derby as an outsider, finishing a further length and a quarter behind Thirty Talks. He starts from box eight.
The top grade race on the program looks to be a match race between two high-quality bitches trained on the Northern Rivers. The ever consistent Lady Abigail, for Frank Hancock, will look to get the better of Group 1 National Futurity winner Cash In Motion (Robert Cooke) for the second week running after they were the first two greyhounds across the line in last week’s open class event. They have drawn boxes one and four respectively.
Also on the program, Margaret Quarrell’s Serene Star will look to win her fourth race in her last five starts when she lines up from box three in race seven, a fourth grade over 520m.
The Thursday night program at Albion Park kicks off with the first of ten events at 6:39pm.
