Reopening of Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club to the Public

The Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club (BGRC) is pleased to advise industry stakeholders the Pacers & Chasers Bar and Bistro will reopen to the public from Thursday night June 25.

The Club has received approval to recommence trading to the public on a restricted scale in line with the racing industry’s COVID Safe Plan, which was approved by Queensland Health on Friday June 19.

Under Stage 2 of the Industry COVID Safe Plan, the BGRC is responsible for ensuring there is minimised risk of contact between patrons and essential stakeholders.

Two distinct and clearly separated areas will be outlined at the Club as follows:

  1. Core Racing Areas: Areas specified solely for essential stakeholders
  2. Patron Areas: Areas specified solely for patrons

Essential stakeholders are defined as persons who are required to attend a race meeting to carry out duties – trainers, licensed attendants, Club staff, racing officials and essential contractors. Please note this does not include owners or Club members.

Please be advised of the Club’s trading guidelines under Stage 2 of the Industry COVID Safe Plan for each area.

Core Racing Area

Food & Beverage:

During stage 2 of trading, a maximum of 20 persons are permitted to dine in at any one time in each designated area.

Dine In Service & Bookings:

  • The Core Racing Area allows for 46 people to dine in per race meeting
  • Pre bookings will be taken for Thursday night race meetings only with bookings opening at 12 noon each Wednesday through the Club office – 3862 1744
  • For all other race meetings, bookings can be made from the commencement of kennelling in person with the Bistro Manager on a ‘first in, first served’ basis
  • All dine in areas will be table service, including beverages
  • Split billing will be available for purchases via debit/credit card only – no cash will be accepted

Takeaway Service:

  • Takeaway meals will be available for essential stakeholders and patrons during kitchen trading hours in line with the dine in service at each meeting
  • All purchases and collections are to be made through the designated take away area, which will be clearly signed
  • Takeaway meals cannot be consumed in the dine in area and must be consumed in designated areas in the grandstand

Wagering Services:

The Club will provide on-course wagering services for essential stakeholders in the Core Racing Area as follows:

Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday Race Meetings:

  • Cash SST wagering only
  • Club staff will monitor SST wagering and settle bets when patrons wish to cash out credit tickets
  • Cash SST’s will be regularly sanitised

Thursday Race Meetings:

  • Cash SST and tote wagering services
  • Cash SST’s will be regularly sanitised

Patron Area

Food & Beverage:

The Club will provide up to (4) sections for patrons to utilise during stage 2 as follows:

Section 1 – Premium Dine In Area (Inside)

  • This area allows for 40 people to dine in per race meeting (maximum 20 per designated area clearly signed)
  • Pre bookings will be taken for Thursday night race meetings only with bookings opening at 12 noon each Wednesday through trybooker.com or by calling the Club office on 3862 1744
  • For bookings on Thursday night race meetings, patrons will be required to pre-purchase a two-course meal option at $35 per person
  • For all other race meetings, patrons can pre-book tables or walk in and book a table through the Bistro Manager from opening time (no pre-purchases required)
  • All areas in section 1 will be table service only, including beverages
  • Split billing will be available for purchases via debit/credit card only – no cash will be accepted
  • Each person in section 1 will be required to provide personal details to Club staff (Name, Address, Phone Number) and will be allocated a specific wrist band for identification

Section 2 – Grandstand Dine In Area Licensed (Outside)

  • This area allows for 25 people to dine in per race meeting (maximum 10 per designated area clearly signed) and will be available in this capacity on Thursday race meetings only
  • Pre bookings for Thursday night race meetings in section 2 will be taken from 12 noon each Wednesday through trybooker.com or by calling the Club office on 3862 1744
  • Patrons will be required to pre-purchase a meal option at $22 per person
  • All areas in section 2 will be seated service only, including beverages
  • Split billing will be available for purchases via debit/credit card only – no cash will be accepted
  • For all other race meetings, section 2 will revert to an unlicensed area where takeaway meals and non-alcoholic beverages only can be consumed (as per sections 3 & 4)
  • Each person in section 2 will be required to provide personal details to Club staff (Name, Address, Phone Number) and will be allocated a specific wrist band for identification

Section 3 – Grandstand Area Unlicensed (Undercover)

  • This area allows for 10 people to attend and enjoy each race meeting and purchase takeaway food options from the designated area in Pacers & Chasers (clearly signed)
  • This area is not licensed and no alcoholic beverages are able to be consumed
  • Patrons will be able to purchase non-alcoholic beverages e.g. soft drink, coffee
  • Pre bookings for Thursday night race meetings in section 3 will be taken from 12 noon each Wednesday through trybooker.com or by calling the Club office on 3862 1744
  • For all other race meetings, pre bookings will not be taken and patrons can book through the Bistro Manager from opening time on a “first in, first served” basis
  • Each person in section 3 will be required to provide personal details to Club staff (Name, Address, Phone Number) and will be allocated a specific wrist band for identification

Section 4 – Grandstand Area Unlicensed (Not Undercover)

  • This area allows for 16 people to attend and enjoy each race meeting and purchase takeaway food options from the designated area in Pacers & Chasers (clearly signed)
  • This area is not licensed and no alcoholic beverages are able to be consumed
  • Patrons will be able to purchase non-alcoholic beverages e.g. soft drink, coffee
  • Pre bookings for Thursday night race meetings in section 4 will be taken from 12 noon each Wednesday through trybooker.com or by calling the Club office on 3862 1744
  • For all other race meetings, pre bookings will not be taken and patrons can book through the Bistro Manager from opening time on a “first in, first served” basis
  • Each person in section 4 will be required to provide personal details to Club staff (Name, Address, Phone Number) and will be allocated a specific wrist band for identification

Wagering Services:

The Club will provide on-course wagering services for the section 1 patron area only as follows:

Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday Race Meetings:

  • Cash SST wagering only
  • Club staff will monitor SST wagering and settle bets when patrons wish to cash out credit tickets
  • Patrons will not be able to enter the core racing area unless accompanied by a Club staff member
  • Cash SST’s will be regularly sanitised

Thursday Race Meetings:

  • Cash SST and tote wagering services
  • Cash SST’s will be regularly sanitised

To be clear, no wagering services will be accessible to patrons in sections 2,3,4 due to restrictions with social distancing inside the patron area in section 1.

Patrons in sections 2,3,4 will only be allowed access to section 1 to utilise bathroom facilities through a signed thoroughfare.

Club conditions of entry require all parties to adhere to the COVID-19 safe practices implemented by the BGRC and the Club shall refuse entry and/or service to any persons who show COVID-19 symptoms or fail to adhere to COVID-19 protocols or directions issued by the Club.
