Notice to Participants – Changes to BGRC Public Trial Sessions

29 June 2022

The Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club (BGRC) wishes to advise participants of changes to public trial bookings and associated fee charges to commence from Monday 4 July 2022.

There has been an increased demand for trialling at the Club. This is due to an increase in greyhound numbers and a decrease in the available training and trial track facilities available to participants.

Albion Park is a dual code facility that races seven days per week, with greyhound racing or trialling being conducted on five of those. To ensure the safest possible facility for participants and greyhounds, extensive maintenance must also be conducted each week.

The Club recently introduced two initiatives to attempt to meet the needs of participants – particularly the frustration of participants in not being able to secure trial bookings at all given the speed at which session bookings are filled.

1.    The introduction of additional Friday morning trials where the racing and maintenance schedule allows. Should the demand for Friday trials continue we will look to providing an on-going schedule of Friday trials.

2.    The reduction on the maximum trials that can be booked online by participants from 8 to 6, to allow more participants to access bookings.

Unfortunately some participants have circumvented the booking system by booking trials under alternative names as well as their own – at pretty much the same time – and effectively reducing the opportunity for other participants to access trials.

As a result, we will now implement further initiatives to promote equitable access to available trials for all participants:

1.    A maximum of 6 trials per participant per session (online or phone) can be booked for the first hour after bookings open.

2.    Additional trials can be booked by participants by phone following the first hour of bookings opening (subject to availability).

3.    The person making the booking MUST be a licenced participant or a Premium Club Member.

4.    Participants will be charged fees for public trial bookings as per the status of the name of each trial booking – to be clear – if the trial is booked under a non-members name the trial will NOT attract a member’s discount.

For any further information, please contact the Club during business hours.
