Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club (BGRC) welcomes Billy Slater as Queensland Racing Ambassador
The Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club (BGRC) today endorsed the appointment of rugby league legend and proud Queenslander, Billy Slater, as the new racing ambassador for the three-codes of racing in the State.
The announcement from Racing Queensland (RQ) on June 24 is a welcome addition to the greyhound industry across the State, where Mr. Slater will be promoting and creating positive awareness of greyhound racing to audiences throughout Queensland.
In the lead up to State of Origin game three on July 13, Billy Slater will be appearing trackside at Albion Park for the Group 1 Garrard’s Winter Cup on Thursday July 7.
“It is a great coup for the Club to have Billy Slater join us for the culmination of our very successful Winter Carnival in the week prior to the final State of Origin match of the series,” BGRC Chief Executive Luke Gatehouse said.
The BGRC will be creating a Winter Wonderland at Albion Park for the final feature of the 2016 Greyhound Winter Carnival on July 7, where there will be plethora of entertainment for families to enjoy including our frozen jumping castle, face painting with our snow angel as well as ten kids’ bikes to be given away.
Like a classic State of Origin battle, the 2016 Garrard’s Winter Cup final shapes up as a State-vs-State battle with five Queenslanders set to take on three Victorians in a bid to claim first prize of $75,000.
