As part of the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club’s ongoing commitment to stakeholders and animal welfare, the club has made a significant investment in the industry through purchase of an Accell Therapy Vibration Therapy Mat and Massage System which will be available to all participants from Monday, 5 November 2018.
Accell Therapy is the official therapy partner of Greyhound Clubs Australia and the Greyhounds As Pets organization.
The equipment is derived from Cycloid Vibration Therapy, which was first used in 1949 and has been clinically proven to produce reliable and repeatable results when treating muscular and nerve related injuries in humans and animals.
In essence, the Accell Therapy mat uses a less aggressive small-amplitude vibration to produce increased circulation in racing animals and to assist in recovery from exertion and injuries such as sprains, tendons and surgical procedures.
The therapy can be used immediately after such surgical procedures and is an alternative to ‘range of movement’ treatment, enabling less down time in the rehabilitation process.
The system will be positioned in the kennel block with the sessions available in 15-minute increments and bookings are essential through the BGRC Office.
The 15-minute therapy sessions will cost $10 for club members and $12 for non-members.
Access times for the mat will be as follows:
Monday 10:00am – 12:00noon
Tuesday 7:30am – 4:00pm
Wednesday 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Thursday NOT AVAILABLE
Friday 10:00am – 4:00pm
Those wishing to make a booking, or to learn more about the equipment or procedure should contact the BGRC office during business hours on (07) 3862 1744.
